A browser-based digital poem

'One for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl and four for a boy,  five for silver, six for gold and seven for a secret never to be told.'

Magpiiie is an experimental work of digital poetry that explores the pursuit of 'success' and other materialistic things.

Written and developed by Andy Campbell and Judi Alston, the piece uses photo-scanned twigs and branches fused with repeating lines of poetry and whispers of spoken word to create an eerie, tightly-woven 'nest' that can be explored using the mouse and your mouse’s scroll wheel.

If you have a high-end mobile device (relatively new phone or tablet) you can load up the work and use your touch screen to navigate via this URL . The piece also works on Windows touch-enabled laptops and monitors.  * note that if you experience poor performance in your browser (stuttering, etc) please download the work for PC below.

Uncover the shiny objects wedged into the surface of the nest to release the poem.
